Brookfield Club has had an exciting start to the year with many students training for the Cho's Interclub Tournament". We had a run with our new scoring system last Thursday night which was a good experience for both the competitors and referees present. As this competition is aimed at developing novices for many it was the first time they trained with a scoring system and it made a huge difference in their understanding of how to score a point. A number of students have already handed in their entry forms and to date I have competitors in all of the events including "Creative Poomse" and "Teams Poomse". The students are having lots of fun preparing for the event and looking forward to meeting the students from the other clubs. I am also preparing to travel to Mexico to referee at the World Junior Olympic Selections and the Junior World Championships being held over the first 2 weeks of March. Last year was a busy year for both Rob and I as we travelled to Lille in France for an International Referee Seminar and I refereed at the Deaflympics in Chinese Taipei in August and at the World Championships in Copenhagen in October. This year we are planning to go to Korea in the July school holidays for the Taekwondo Expo. Our grandmaster Yong Dai Cho is organizing the trip and hopefully a number of our members can attend. Brookfield is happy to welcome a number of new students to our club this year and we look forward to a great year of achievement and enjoyment. Several of our students are training towards their Black Belt grading later in the year and we have many students preparing for their first grading, so we have our work cut out for us and look forward to assisting these students to achieve their goals.
